DAPHNIII is an electronic music producer, DJ, and electronic digital instrument (EDI) performer who was born in China, and currently based in Boston. As a student in Electronic Production and Design with a minor in Electronic Performance at Berklee College of Music, she blends technical innovation with artistic intuition to craft immersive and emotionally charged sonic landscapes.

Music, for DAPHNIII, is an act of freedom and individuality. Deeply inspired by philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseauthe“I may be no better, but at least I am different”, she embraces musical creation as a space for bold self-expression, where rules are reimagined, genres are blurred, and identity is fluid. Each piece she creates is a reflection of this belief that music is alive, limitless, and inherently soulful.

Her signature lies in raw textures, heavy basslines, and modular synth design. Influenced by sonic innovators such as Skrillex, ISOxo, Anyma, Marcel Dettmann, and Arca, she strives to build sound worlds that evoke not just rhythm but revelation. Her debut EP L0ve&DЯug features entirely self-designed sounds, reflecting her personal connection to timbre, space, and emotional energy.

Since discovering Ableton Push at Berklee, DAPHNIII has made it her primary instrument for both production and live performance. The tactile interface of Push, paired with the power of Ableton Live, allows her to perform with immediacy, physicality, and spontaneity. Breaking the traditional separation between composition and performance.

Her live experience spans more than 20 events, including InFraboston’s “The Techno Ensemble” at Manray (May 2025) , the Future Pop Ensemble Showcase (Dec 2024), and BOSwag’s “Golden Age to New Wave” Hip-Hop Club (Dec 2024), As both a DJ and EDI performer, she adapts each set to the venue’s energy, merging techno, experimental, and hip-hop into compelling, fluid performances. She has also collaborated onstage with critically acclaimed artists like Jin Chen, BL3ND, and VastSky.

Outside of club contexts, DAPHNIII has composed electronic music and sound design for several multimedia projects, including three Chinese television dramas: Three Wishes, Fly Across Blog, and Summer Again (where she also contributed as a cellist). She has extensive experience in vocal recording, film sound, and hybrid audio environments.

A classically trained cellist, DAPHNIII has performed at over 30 shows with artists including Ziyin Wang, Keith Du, and Daisy Sayaka. Her work often integrates cello with digital processing, recontextualizing the acoustic instrument within modern sound systems and electronic textures.

DAPHNIII’s musical worldview is shaped by her love for philosophy. She often reflects on Simone de Beauvoir’s idea: “To be free is not to have the power to do anything you like; it is to be able to surpass the given toward an open future.” Through sound, she pushes past the given toward the open. Her music lives in this tension, always reaching beyond, seeking a horizon that never ends.

Looking Forward to Collaborating with You
